The mind is our epi-centre for health, the way we think reflects the way we feel which affects the chemicals in our body. If we think negative thoughts it usually makes us feel anxious, fearful, sad etc. If we think positive thoughts we usually feel happiness, hope, joy, love etc.
Life brings a lot of stresses with it, unfortunately stress is the biggest killer on the planet. It's our responsibility to look after our own health, not to rely on the medical system to patch us up but educate ourselves to always heal and improve ourselves so our bodies can work at an optimum level with less risk of disease.
